Family history of breast or ovarian cancer

Family history of breast or ovarian cancer

Family history of breast or ovarian cancer

For male applicants, this is not a specified question and any disclosure of family history of breast or ovarian cancer should be made under the ‘other cancer’. Please see that page for specific details and scenarios

For female applicants:

  • Life Cover, Critical Illness Cover & TPD –  HSBC will offer standard rate decisions, increase to the premium or be unable to provide a quote (if associated with other conditions).

There are some rules that apply across all applicants with a family history of breast or ovarian cancer – that would result in HSBC Life not being able to offer Life Cover, Critical Illness Cover or TPD at the current time. Such as:

  • been advised to take medication
  • been advised to have, or already had, surgery
  • been advised to go for screening or start screening at an earlier age.

This is a general guide and is not a guarantee of acceptance.

NB: The decision will vary based on the age of the applicant and the age of the family history was diagnosed.
